Two Fishermen at the Waterside
$39.00
Print only, frame not included
A fishing net hangs to dry on a line strung between poles on a flat shore. Two fishermen are at work beside it, one standing by a post and one sitting on the ground, while a dog sniffs the sand and sailboats pass on the water beyond. The scene is drawn with a fine pen in brown with touches of watercolor.
The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, lists this drawing as possibly by Anthonie van Borssom and dates it to 1640–1677. It is drawn with the pen in brown and the brush in watercolor, and the museum's Dutch title asks whether the water is the IJ, the river at Amsterdam. The sheet is shown whole, with plain paper added at the edges to reach the format.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a wide 2:3 format: 8×12, 12×18, 16×24, 20×30, 24×36 and 40×60 inches. A light, airy drawing for a bathroom, a hallway or a coastal home.
