Hyacinths from The Temple of Flora
$29.00
Four tall stems of hyacinths rise from a clump of long green leaves: two of white double flowers, one of deep blue and one of white tinged with blue at the center. Behind them, a pale blue sky with white clouds sits over a low landscape with a river and a few buildings on the left. The image is set within a wide cream margin, with an engraved title and lettering below.
Hyacinths comes from The Temple of Flora, or Garden of Nature. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, credits the engraving to Thomas Warner, a British engraver active from 1790 to 1828, and dates it June 1, 1801. It is an aquatint and stipple engraving printed in color with hand coloring.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. A cool blue and white print for a bedroom, a bathroom or a hallway.
