Vase of Flowers by Jan Davidsz de Heem
$29.00
A tall bouquet in a glass vase stands on a stone ledge against a near-black background. Red-and-white striped tulips, a white peony-like flower, white snowballs, roses, blue morning glories and an orange-red carnation spread out from the vase, with ears of wheat, pea pods and trailing tendrils. A butterfly sits at the top, another near the bottom, and a small snail crawls along the ledge at the left.
Jan Davidsz de Heem (Dutch, 1606–1684) painted this oil on canvas c. 1660 and signed it J.D. De Heem f. on the parapet at the lower left. It is held by the National Gallery of Art, Washington.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. A dark, rich still life for a dining room, a hallway or a living room.
