A large bouquet rises from a stone urn with a small face in relief, set on a ledge against a background of fine horizontal lines. Striped red-and-white and blue-and-white tulips, pale blue hyacinths, yellow daffodils and ringed auriculas spread out from it, each tinted by hand in soft color over the engraved lines. Below the image runs a numbered list of flower names around a small cartouche reading APRIL.

Henry Fletcher (English, 1710–1750) engraved this plate after Peter Casteels III (Flemish, 1684–1749) for Twelve Months of Flowers. It is an engraving in black ink with opaque and translucent watercolor on cream laid paper; the museum record gives no date. The Art Institute of Chicago holds the print.

Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. A tall, detailed flower piece for a dining room, a hallway or a bedroom wall.
