Still Life with Iris by Peter Binoit
$29.00
A dense bouquet rises from a ribbed green glass beaker on a gray stone ledge, set against a dark brown background. A large orange tulip opens at the center, with a blue iris at the upper right, a blue cornflower at the left and pink anemones, white and yellow narcissus, carnations and lilies of the valley packed around them. A brown beetle crawls on the ledge at the left, a caterpillar lies at the right, and small ladybugs and a butterfly sit among the flowers.
Peter Binoit, a German painter active in the 17th century, painted this still life in oil on copper in 1623 and marked it with his monogram, PB .1623., at the lower right. It is held by the National Gallery of Art, Washington.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. A dark, richly colored image for a dining room, a hallway or a living room.
