Yacht Basin at Trouville-Deauville by Eugène Boudin
$29.00
A row of moored ships fills the middle of the picture, their masts strung with lines of small flags in red, blue, yellow and white. Below them the calm water of the harbor repeats the flags as broken flecks of color, and a yellow funnel stands among the hulls at the left. A blue sky with large cream clouds takes up the top half, painted in loose, quick strokes.
Eugène Boudin (French, 1824–1898) painted this oil on wood, which the National Gallery of Art, Washington dates to probably 1895/1896. It carries the atelier stamp E. Boudin at the lower right and belongs to the museum's Ailsa Mellon Bruce Collection.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. Its upright shape and bright flags suit a hallway, a kitchen or a sunny landing.
