The Buoy (Saint-Tropez) by Paul Signac
$29.00
An orange-red buoy floats in the lower half of a harbor, its reflection breaking into dots of orange on the blue water. Behind it, sailboats with tall, slanting masts and an orange sail lie in front of a row of yellow, pink and orange houses with red roofs, all set against a pale blue sky. The whole image is made of small separate dabs of color, and a signature and the number 40/40 are written at the lower right.
Paul Signac (French, 1863–1935) made this 6-color lithograph in 1894. The National Gallery of Art, Washington, which holds it in its Rosenwald Collection, titles it The Buoy (La bouée).
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. Its upright shape and warm colors suit a hallway, a bathroom or a kitchen wall.
