Warships and a Moroccan Xebec in Distress by Hendrik Kobell
$39.00
Print only, frame not included
Storm clouds tear across a dark sky as heavy waves break against a rocky coast. A large warship heels over at the right and a small sailing vessel is tossed among the breakers, while in the foreground men on a rock reach out toward the wreck. Spray flies up where the waves hit the rocks, and the last light glows orange behind the clouds.
Hendrik Kobell painted this scene in oil on canvas, signed and dated 'Kobell fec 1775'. The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, titles it English Warships and a Moroccan Chebec in Distress. The museum also lists the title The Shipwreck; the canvas measures 93.5 by 135 cm.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a wide 2:3 format: 8×12, 12×18, 16×24, 20×30, 24×36 and 40×60 inches. A dramatic sea scene for a living room, an office or a study.
