New York Harbor by Fitz Henry Lane
$39.00
Sailing ships move across choppy gray-green water under a pale sky with pink-tinged clouds. The largest, a dark-hulled ship with full white sails and an American flag, sits right of center, with a two-masted vessel flying the same flag at the far right and a small sailboat in front. Further back are another large ship, a steamboat with smoke, and a low city skyline with spires along the horizon.
Fitz Henry Lane (1804–1865), the American painter, made this oil on canvas in 1852 and signed it 'FHLane. / 1852' at the lower right. The painting is in the collection of the National Gallery of Art, Washington.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a wide 2:3 format: 8×12, 12×18, 16×24, 20×30, 24×36 and 40×60 inches. Its long, low shape suits the wall above a sofa, a desk or a sideboard.
