Thin brown willow branches run diagonally across a cream ground, each carrying long, narrow leaves in two shades of soft green. The leaves overlap and turn in different directions, so the whole sheet is covered evenly with no single focal point. Each leaf is a flat shape with fine darker green lines for its veins.
William Morris (1834–1896), the British designer born in Walthamstow, London, who died in Hammersmith, London, designed this wallpaper in 1887. It is block-printed in distemper colors. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, which holds the sheet in its Drawings and Prints department, titles it Willow Bough.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20 and 24×30 inches. A calm green pattern for a bedroom, a kitchen or a garden room.
