Long, feathery leaves sweep across the sheet in cream on a mid-blue ground, crossing one another in a dense, all-over pattern. Large open flowers with dotted centers sit among them, along with smaller round flower heads and sprigs of tiny leaves. Fine blue lines mark the veins of every leaf and petal, and the blue ground is scattered with small cream dots.
William Morris (1834–1896), the British designer born in Walthamstow, London, who died in Hammersmith, London, designed this wallpaper in 1875. It is block-printed in distemper colors. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, which holds the sheet in its Drawings and Prints department, titles it Marigold.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20 and 24×30 inches. A cool blue and cream pattern for a bathroom, a bedroom or a hallway.
