A dark headland covered with pines slopes down to the shore at the right, where small waves roll in over a wide, pale beach. Across the bay lies a wooded island with white clouds drifting beside it, and the snow-capped cone of Mount Fuji rises above the trees against a deep blue sky. The title cartouche sits in the upper left corner.
Katsushika Hokusai designed this color woodblock print for his series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, published by Nishimura Yohachi. The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, titles it the beach at Shichiri-ga-hama in Sagami Province, dates it to 1830–1834, and describes it as printed from a blue line block with color blocks in three shades of blue. The sheet is shown whole, with plain paper added at the edges to reach the format.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a wide 2:3 format: 8×12, 12×18, 16×24, 20×30, 24×36 and 40×60 inches. Its cool blues suit a bedroom, a bathroom or a calm hallway.
