Blue irises fill a white jug that stands on a green table top, with the flowers spreading wide to both sides against a pale pinkish-white wall. The petals are blue outlined in darker blue, set among long, pointed green leaves, and a single stem rises on its own at the top left. The paint is thick throughout, and short raised strokes show across the pale background.
Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890), a Dutch artist born in Zundert who died at Auvers-sur-Oise, painted this still life in oil on canvas in 1890. It is held by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, in its European Paintings department.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. Its broad shape and cool blues and greens suit a living room, a dining room or the wall above a bed.
