Four Moths by Anton Weiss
$29.00
Four moths are laid out in two rows on a plain cream sheet, each seen from above with wings spread and a soft gray shadow beside it. At the top are an orange-brown moth with black-banded hindwings and a smaller black one with red streaks and red hindwings; below are a pale green moth with white hindwings and a gray, black-speckled moth with brown hindwings. A small signature in brown ink sits at the lower right.
Anton Weiss made this drawing in pencil and watercolor on paper. The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, which holds it, dates it to 1811–1851 and titles it Vier vlinders: four butterflies.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. A quiet, orderly image for a study, a bedroom or a hallway.
