Festoon of Fruits by Johannes Borman
$29.00
Print only, frame not included
A heavy garland of fruit hangs in a gentle curve between two ribbons tied to rings on a dark wall. Ripe peaches and apricots glow at its center among plums, grapes and green leaves, and the fruit at the ends fades into the shadows. A small butterfly rests above the garland near the center, and the light falls softly from the left.
Johannes Borman painted this festoon in oil on canvas. The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, titles it Festoon of Fruits, records the signature 'Borman f.' and dates the painting to about 1653–1658. The canvas measures 60 by 74 cm.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. A dark, quiet still life for a dining room, a kitchen or a library.
