A round map shows the eastern hemisphere as the ancient world knew it: Europe, Africa and Asia, crossed by the lines of the climate zones, with the Latin title in the upper corners and small diagrams in the lower corners. Ornamental borders frame the whole sheet.
The plate is Hemisphaerium orbis antiqui cum zonis, circulis et situ populorum diverso (the hemisphere of the ancient world, with its zones, circles and the positions of its peoples) from Andreas Cellarius' atlas Harmonia Macrocosmica; the Rijksmuseum holds it among the plates of the 1708 edition.
Lab-printed to order on lustre photo paper, in a 4:5 format: 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. A handsome map for a study, an office or a library wall.
