Two Women in Yellow Kerchiefs by Constantin Guys
$39.00
Print only, frame not included
Two young women stand side by side against a dark background, both wearing yellow kerchiefs over their hair, pale loose dresses and deep blue aprons. The one on the left turns slightly, one arm raised, while the other looks off to the side with her hands in her apron. The drawing is quick and light, laid in with washes of color that leave much of the paper showing through.
Constantin Guys (1802–1892) was a draughtsman and watercolourist who recorded everyday life in nineteenth-century Paris. Charles Baudelaire wrote about him in his essay The Painter of Modern Life.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper in the 2:3 format: 8×12, 12×18, 16×24, 20×30, 24×36 and 40×60 inches. The soft colors and loose drawing suit a bedroom, a dressing room or a hallway.
