Calm Sea by Hendrik Willem Mesdag
$29.00
Print only, frame not included
A fishing boat lies at anchor in shallow water close to the shore, its brown sails half raised and a small flag at the masthead. A figure wades out toward it, and further off two more sails stand on the pale horizon. The sea is still and silvery green, with only small waves curling onto the sand, and a high, cloudy sky takes up most of the picture.
Hendrik Willem Mesdag (1831–1915) was a Dutch marine painter of the Hague School, known above all for his views of the sea at Scheveningen.
Lab-printed to order on luster photo paper in 8×10, 16×20, 24×30 and 40×50 inches. Its soft greens and grays bring a sense of space to a bedroom, a bathroom or a living room, and it pairs well with other coastal prints.
